Marion Smiths Birdhouse challenge

Heres pictures of my entry to Marion Smiths birdhouse challenge, you may have seen other peoples videos of their entries on youtube-they are gorgeous!

The challenge was to download the birdhouse template on Marions website http://www.apieceofcraft.com/ and to make up a birdhouse ornament/ gift box.

Like many people I have seen, this is also my first challenge & when I saw so many people saying it was so quick & fun, I knew I wanted to have a go too.

Because I'm not set up on youtube yet my entry is these photographs,

Let me know what you think,

Aideen X
so for my birdhouse I made it a giftbox in the style of a cuckoo clock, I havent seen one like this so I hope you like it
I used Tim Holtz music sheet paper from the lost & found collection to make the house and my clock is one of his timepieces, |I also distressed all the edges lightly with walnut distress ink
I added a jump ring with some chains hanging out out of the bottom of the house for the cuckoo clock effect :)
My roof is made of little rectangles that I cut out of some black textured core'dinations card and I also added a Tim Holtz adage ticket of the word soar to go with the bird theme. I used cotton string for my closure & also as my hanger for the ornament. The roof is also coated with black diamond stickles but I'm not sure if you can make that out in this picture.

My little bird rub-on is from the Basic Grey curio collction
Maybe this will show up the roof detail better??
Now for my little surprise-the Timepiece at the front of the clock is attached to a little mini album inside the birdhouse!!! I really liked how this turned out
This is a close up of the front of the box without the mini inside-I use a piece of prima crystals and pearls that I cut to fit around the opening for the clock & a beautiful prima rose that was cream but I glimmermisted it with my black chalkboard to match better with my papers
This is my little mini from inside the box, even with the mini inside there is stilll plenty of room for a little gift to go in behind it-I used my cotton string to bind the book & I used chipboard as a base for each page
Again I used the Tim Holtz paper-just leftover pieces from the birdhouse, I used basic grey journalling paper from their basics range on the back of all the pages too & distressed the edges with walnut ink. These pages will fit passport sized pictures!
close up of the papers used, this little mini is so cute & so quick to make because its tiny
So, there you go, thats my cuckoo clock birdhouse gift box & mini, I hope you enjoyed looking at it & I hope Marion likes it too!
